CHEF DE PARTIE
FULL-TIME

Position Purpose

The Chef de Partie role is dedicated to cooking and preparing meals for the Tasting Deck Cafe within Forestway Fresh. The Chef de Partie is a valued member who assists the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in the day to day smooth and efficient operation of the kitchen.

Main Tasks

  • Ensure great presentation and quality standards of all food products that exit The Tasting Deck kitchen
  • Producing meals as per recipes outlined on our seasonal menu
  • Ensure food is prepared and displayed in accordance with the Forestway Fresh procedures and policies
  • Follow schedules and routines for smooth and efficient operations in the kitchen
  • Ensure processes and procedures are always followed to the strictest detail
  • Monitoring stock levels and rotation of produce and consumables
  • Ensure quality product and knife skills are used at all times
  • Ensuring all protocols for food handling and safety are being adhered to
  • Work efficiently and as directed to ensure minimal wastage
  • Adhere to health and safety standards without compromise
  • Assist with identifying needs of equipment and personnel and implementing those changes
  • Working closely with Executive Chef and/or Head Chef to allow for an efficient and smooth operation of the kitchen
  • Ensure that any issues are followed through and are immediately escalated to your department manager if required
  • Fulfil any tasks or duties as required by management

FRONT END CASHIERS

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Front end till operation - handling cash with the utmost care
  • Stock merchandise as required in all areas of the store
  • Undertake inventory duties as directed by your Manager
  • Assisting customers with product information and location within the store
  • Ensure all controls, policies, procedures and guidelines are followed
  • Work in accordance with the principles of Forestway Fresh Vision and Mission
  • Promote sales by attending to customers’ needs with outstanding service
  • Aim to achieve 100% accuracy at all times
  • Serve customers as quickly and politely as possible, always striving to increase speed without the loss of accuracy or courtesy
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety

Individual Tasks

In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, it is the responsibility of the Front End Cashier to carry out individual tasks requested by the Store Manager which are in the nature of the job description or result out of necessity of the business.

FOOD & BEVERAGE ATTENDANTS AND BARISTAS
FULL & PART-TIME

Great Food & Beverage Attendants and Baristas uplift the experience for our customers. We are looking for staff who will have the patience, personality and perseverance to thrive in this role, whilst working in a fast paced environment.

Responsibilities include greeting and serving customers, providing detailed information on menus, multitasking various front-of-house duties and preparing and serving food and drinks. 

If you have barista experience - you will love our state-of-the-art coffee machines - a joy to use as you use your talents to make great coffees for our clients.

If you are able to perform well in fast-paced environments, you will enjoy one of these varied positions. To be successful, you should be polite to our customers and make sure they enjoy their time in the cafe. You should also be a team player and be able to effectively communicate with all staff to make sure orders are accurate and delivered promptly.

FOOD & BEVERAGE ATTENDANTS

  • Greet and escort customers to their tables if required
  • Present menu and provide detailed information when asked (e.g. about portions, ingredients or potential food allergies)
  • Inform customers about the day’s specials
  • Offer menu recommendations upon request
  • Upsell additional products when appropriate
  • Take accurate food and drinks orders, using POS ordering software
  • Check customers’ IDs to ensure they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
  • Clear and clean tables
  • Communicate order details to the kitchen staff
  • Serve food and drink orders
  • Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any problems with these
  • Arrange table settings and maintain a tidy dining area
  • Serve at point of sale
  • Carry dirty plates, glasses and silverware to kitchen for cleaning
  • Meet with restaurant staff to review daily specials, changes on the menu and service specifications for reservations eg: large groups
  • Follow all relevant health department regulations
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests
  • RSA Licence is looked upon highly
  • Barista experience is looked upon highly

BARISTAS

  • Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks such as coffee, tea, artisan and specialty beverages. Proficient knowledge of coffee machines and hospitality work experience is essential.
  • Describing menu items, suggesting products to customers and taking orders
  • Offer menu recommendations upon request
  • Upsell additional products when appropriate
  • Take accurate food and drinks orders, using POS ordering software
  • Cleaning and sanitising work areas, utensils and equipment
  • Cleaning service and seating areas as required
  • Ordering, receiving and distributing stock supplies
  • Receiving and processing customer payments
  • Communicate order details to the kitchen staff
  • Serve food and drink orders when required
  • Check dishes and kitchenware for cleanliness and presentation and report any problems with these
  • Arrange table settings and maintain a tidy dining area when required
  • Serve at point of sale
  • Carry dirty plates, glasses and silverware to kitchen for cleaning when required
  • Follow all relevant health department regulations
  • Provide excellent customer service to guests and quick post meal service
